The best Buffer alternatives in 2026 (honest picks)

By The Pinned team · Updated October 30, 2026 · 7 min read

People usually start shopping for Buffer alternatives when the bill grows with every account they add. Full disclosure: I'm the founder of Pinned, one of the options below, so yes, I'm biased. I'll still tell you when another tool, or Buffer itself, is the better choice.

My quick take: if you have 3 to 5 accounts, Buffer is hard to beat and you may not need to switch. If you have 10 or more, a flat-price tool like Pinned or Post Bridge usually costs less. Agencies should look at Metricool, Instagram-first brands at Later, and growing social teams at Hootsuite.

Why people look for Buffer alternatives

Buffer deserves its reputation. It has a free plan that schedules real posts, unlimited AI help on every plan, a comment inbox across 10 networks, iOS and Android apps, and it publishes almost everywhere: TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Pinterest, Google Business Profile, Mastodon and, since September 2026, Substack Notes. For a few accounts it's cheap and pleasant.

The usual reasons to leave, all from Buffer's own pricing page:

  • Every account is a line item. Essentials is $6 per channel/month month to month. Buffer's own example puts 10 channels at $60/month, and 10 channels on Team at $120/month.
  • The free plan is small. 3 channels, 10 queued posts per channel, 30 days of analytics. Upgrade, and you pay for those 3 channels too.
  • One seat on Essentials. More users, approvals and access levels need Team.
  • No Discord, no listening. Buffer doesn't post to Discord and has no social listening suite.

1. Pinned

Mine
Best for
streamers, gamers, creators and small brands with many accounts
Price
Free link in bio; Creator $39/month or $390/year; Business $100/month per brand
Pricing model
Flat: one price for up to 15 accounts on Creator

Pinned's answer to per-channel pricing is one number. Creator is $39/month for up to 15 social accounts, unlimited posts and more than one account per platform. It publishes to X (Twitter), Instagram, Facebook Pages, Threads, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Discord and Shopify blogs.

The same plan includes a link in bio page with a custom domain, a live badge, a stream schedule and events, plus a media kit and analytics. Event reminders schedule their own posts. Business adds AI agents, up to 10 team members per brand, and an email builder; the AI runs on your own AI key.

The honest catch: TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest and Google Business Profile are coming, not live, and the free plan doesn't schedule posts.

2. Post Bridge

Best for
one person posting the same content everywhere, especially short video
Price
Marketer $39/month, or $390/year; 7-day free trial
Pricing model
Flat: 15 accounts on Marketer, 99 on Operator

Post Bridge says plainly that it's built for one person doing the marketing, not a team. Marketer covers 15 connected accounts with unlimited posts, several accounts per platform, carousels, bulk video scheduling, an API and an MCP connection for AI agents.

It posts to X, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Bluesky, Threads, Pinterest and Google Business. That makes it the flat-price pick if TikTok or YouTube is your main channel, which Pinned can't cover yet.

The catch: analytics are still labeled beta, and inviting team members starts on Operator at $99/month for 99 accounts.

3. Metricool

Best for
agencies and marketers who care most about analytics and client reports
Price
Free for 1 brand; Starter from $20/month billed annually, $25 month to month
Pricing model
By number of brands, each with its own set of networks

Metricool bills by brand instead of by account. Starter is $20/month billed annually for up to 5 brands, or $36 for up to 10, with unlimited publishing under a fair use policy, unlimited analytics history, PDF and PPT reports and multiple link in bio pages. Advanced, from $53/month billed annually, adds roles, client management, post approvals and an API.

It connects Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Bluesky, LinkedIn and Google Business Profile. The free plan is generous on analytics but allows 20 posts a month, without LinkedIn or X, and X needs an add-on on paid plans.

4. Later

Best for
Instagram and TikTok-first creators and brands who plan visually
Price
Starter $25/month, or $18.75/month billed yearly; 14-day free trial
Pricing model
By social set: one profile on each supported network

Later sells "social sets": one profile each on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads and Snapchat. Starter gives you 1 set and 1 user, up to 30 posts per profile each month, 3 months of analytics, 5 AI credits and Link in Bio by Later.

Growth, at $50/month or $37.50 billed yearly, raises the cap to 180 posts per profile and adds a social inbox, approvals and a second user. Snapchat is something Buffer doesn't offer. The trade-offs: monthly post caps, no X or Bluesky on its list of supported profiles, and only a limited Free plan besides the 14-day trial.

5. Hootsuite

Best for
teams that outgrew Buffer and need an inbox, listening and approvals
Price
From $99 per user/month billed annually; 14-day free trial
Pricing model
Per user, with 10 accounts on Standard

If the reason you're leaving is that your team now answers messages and reports to a manager, Hootsuite is a step up, not a step sideways. Standard includes one inbox for DMs and comments, listening with sentiment analysis, benchmarking against 5 competitors, AI writing by Wisdom and a link in bio tool.

The price is the catch: $99 per user/month billed annually, no free plan, and approvals wait for Advanced at $399 per user/month billed annually. It doesn't post to Discord.

My pick

If you're on Buffer with a few accounts and you're happy, stay. Nothing here beats it on price at that size. If you stream or run a Discord and have 8 or more accounts, try Pinned. If you're a solo marketer living on TikTok and YouTube, try Post Bridge. Agencies with client reports should test Metricool, Instagram-first brands Later, and teams that need an inbox Hootsuite.

What I'd do today

  1. Count your connected channels in Buffer and write down what you pay per month.
  2. Price the same setup 3 ways: flat (Pinned, Post Bridge), per brand (Metricool) and per user (Hootsuite).
  3. Make a free Pinned page or a free Metricool brand, and try one flat-price trial.
  4. Move your 2 busiest accounts first and run them for a full week before cancelling Buffer.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest Buffer alternative?

For 3 accounts or fewer, Buffer's own free plan is cheaper than any alternative here. Metricool's free plan is the other $0 option, for 1 brand and 20 posts a month. Once you pass about 6 accounts on monthly billing, flat-price tools win: Pinned Creator and Post Bridge Marketer both cost $39/month, or $390/year, for 15 accounts.

Which Buffer alternative has a flat price instead of per channel?

Pinned and Post Bridge. Both charge $39/month for up to 15 accounts with unlimited posts. The difference is where they post: Pinned covers X, Instagram, Facebook Pages, Threads, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Discord and Shopify blogs and adds a link in bio page and media kit, while Post Bridge covers TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest and Google Business and doesn't list Discord.

Is there a Buffer alternative that posts to Discord?

Yes, Pinned. You pick the Discord server channels in Discord's own connect window, with no bot to install, and schedule announcements next to your other posts. Event reminders can post to Discord automatically too. None of the other tools in this list, Buffer included, publish to Discord, so if your community lives there, Pinned is the one to try.

Does Pinned have a free plan like Buffer's?

Not for scheduling, and that's a real difference. Pinned's free plan is a link in bio page with every theme and the live badge, but posting to social networks starts on Creator at $39/month. Buffer's free plan schedules up to 10 posts per channel on 3 channels. Pinned's paid plans start with a 14-day free trial you can cancel at no cost.
