The best AI blog writer for Shopify (2026)

By The Pinned team · Updated November 1, 2026 · 9 min read

Full disclosure: I build Pinned, and its SEO Tool writes blog articles for Shopify stores, so I'm biased. Here is my honest take on the best AI blog writer for Shopify anyway, including the tools that aren't mine. The short answer: start with the AI already inside your Shopify admin, which costs nothing extra. Pay for a tool when you want Search Console data behind each post, or posts that appear without you writing them.

The real choice is about control. Some tools stage a draft and wait for you; others publish on a schedule unless you switch that off. (The SEO Tool also writes for pinned.gg's own blog, if you want to judge the output.)

Why Shopify stores need something different

A store blog sends readers to products, answers pre-purchase questions, and must never contradict the product page.

Product accuracy beats volume. A post that recommends a product you stopped selling costs you a sale. Someone should check product mentions before anything goes live.

It has to publish to Shopify. Some well-known SEO tools don't. Surfer's pricing page lists WordPress, Google Docs and Contentful integrations, not Shopify, so it isn't carded here.

Shoppers also ask AI assistants. Pinned tracks whether ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews mention your brand; Outrank says plainly it doesn't.

1. Shopify's built-in AI (Sidekick)

Best for
stores that want a first draft in the admin and will edit it themselves
Price
Included with your Shopify plan, no app to install
AI included
Yes

Shopify's own AI writes blog posts where you already work. In Content, then Blog posts, add a post, click the generate icon in the title field or the content editor, describe the topic, and edit the draft you get. The help center now calls this Sidekick; the App Store still lists it as Shopify Magic for blog posts, included with your plan.

It's the right first step for most stores: free, and you publish by hand, so nothing goes live by accident. Shopify suggests putting product keywords, brand terms, tone and goals in your prompt.

The catch: it's a prompt-and-edit assistant. Shopify's help page doesn't describe keyword research, Search Console data or a content calendar, and you're responsible for the accuracy of what you publish.

2. Pinned

Mine
Best for
stores that want data-led articles a person approves before they go live
Price
Business plan, $100/month per brand or $1,000/year, plus your own AI key; 14-day free trial
AI included
No: you connect an Anthropic, OpenAI, Google or xAI key and pay that provider for usage

The SEO Tool on Pinned's Business plan writes and refreshes blog articles for Shopify stores from your keywords and Google Search Console data. Every draft is checked against a rulebook (links, sources, structure, banned phrases) and staged in Shopify as an unpublished draft. Nothing goes live until a person approves it.

It also tracks whether AI answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews) mention your brand, and it can auto-translate your store's content. The Business plan also includes the social scheduler, link in bio, email builder and four AI agents.

The catches. Model usage is billed by your AI provider on top of $100/month, a cost tools with bundled AI don't add. It only publishes to Shopify, and it isn't a keyword research database, backlink tool or SERP content editor like Semrush or Surfer.

3. Koala AI

Best for
stores that want a strong long-form writer with the AI in the price
Price
Free account with 5,000 words; Starter $25/month or $20/month billed yearly (45,000 words a month)
AI included
Yes, within a monthly word allowance

Koala writes long-form SEO articles with the model costs included. You connect Shopify by creating a custom app in your admin, then pick the blog, the author, and whether each article goes live or saves as a draft. It also publishes to WordPress, Webflow and Ghost.

From Professional ($49/month, or $39/month billed yearly) you get a Search Console and Analytics dashboard, an article editor and automatic internal links. Content Calendar Autopilot starts at Boost ($99/month, or $79/month billed yearly).

The catch: pricing is by words, not articles, and premium models use the allowance faster (Claude Sonnet 5 and GPT-6 Sol count double).

4. AI Blog Agent

Best for
small stores that want regular posts on autopilot for a few dollars a month
Price
Free plan with 3 posts a week; Starter $8.99/month or $89.90/year for 30 posts a month; 14-day free trial on paid plans
AI included
Yes

The Shopify App Store has many AI blog apps. AI Blog Agent, by Go Plus NZ, is one of the most reviewed I looked at and a fair example of the type. You set your keywords, and it creates, schedules and publishes posts that feature and link your own products, with images and internal links added. Paid plans run up to $23.99/month for 160 posts.

The catch is the catch of any autopilot: it publishes on its own, so read what goes out, at least for the first few weeks. Fewer accurate posts beat a pile of thin ones.

5. Outrank

Best for
stores that want articles and backlinks with almost no hands-on work
Price
$99/month or $999/year per website, 30 articles a month; 3-day free trial
AI included
Yes

Outrank runs SEO on autopilot: keyword research, an article a day up to 30 a month, AI images and automated backlink building, published to your Shopify blog. It syncs your products for product-led articles. Its Article Improvements feature uses Search Console data to draft rewrites, which wait for your review by default.

The catches. Backlinks come from an exchange: you host links to other Outrank customers inside your own articles. It doesn't track AI assistant mentions. And each extra website is another subscription, minus a volume discount.

6. SEOBot

Best for
founders who want hands-off weekly articles on Shopify or another CMS
Price
From $49/month for 9 articles a month; no free plan or trial, refund on the $49 plan after the first article
AI included
Yes

SEOBot takes your store's URL, researches your site and keywords, makes a content plan and writes articles every week, with internal links, images and a fact-checking step. It publishes to Shopify and eight other CMSs. With Auto-Publish on, articles go live; with it off, they wait as drafts in your CMS.

The catch: the entry quota is small, and the full plan list only appears after onboarding. It only creates new articles, so it won't refresh posts it didn't write.

My pick

If you've never blogged, start with Shopify's built-in AI this week. It's free, and editing a few drafts teaches you what your customers actually ask.

If the blog should bring in search traffic and you care what goes out under your name, I'd use Pinned: Search Console data in, rulebook checks, nothing live without your approval, and AI visibility tracking. Budget for your AI key on top of $100/month.

If you'll do the planning yourself, Koala gives you the most control for the price. If you want posts without you, AI Blog Agent is the cheap way in and Outrank the full-service one. SEOBot fits a founder who also runs a Webflow or Framer site and wants one tool for both.

What I'd do today

  1. Write one post with Shopify's built-in AI on a question customers already ask you, and edit it until every product detail is right. It's free.
  2. Add your store to Google Search Console if you haven't. Pinned, Koala, Outrank and SEOBot can all use it.
  3. Pick one paid tool and run it for a month on 4 to 8 posts, not 30.
  4. Decide on approvals up front: drafts that wait for you, or autopublish with a weekly read-through.

Frequently asked questions

Can Shopify write blog posts with AI?

Yes. Shopify's built-in AI, called Sidekick in the help center and Shopify Magic on the App Store, generates a blog title and post content from a prompt. In your admin, open Content, then Blog posts, add a post and use the generate icon. It's included with your Shopify plan; you edit and publish the draft yourself.

What is the best AI blog writer for Shopify?

For a free start, the AI built into Shopify. For articles planned from Search Console data and approved by a person, Pinned's SEO Tool. For a capable writer with the AI included, Koala AI. For autopilot, AI Blog Agent is the cheap option and Outrank the full-service one with backlinks.

Do AI blog writers publish to Shopify automatically?

Some do by default. AI Blog Agent creates, schedules and publishes on its own. SEOBot publishes live with Auto-Publish on and saves drafts with it off. Koala and Outrank let you choose. Pinned always stages an unpublished Shopify draft and publishes only after a person approves it. Shopify's own AI writes into the editor and you publish by hand.

Does Pinned's SEO Tool work with WordPress or Wix?

No. Pinned's SEO Tool only publishes to Shopify stores and to pinned.gg itself, not to WordPress, Webflow, Wix or Ghost. If your blog runs on one of those, Koala AI, Outrank and SEOBot each publish to several of them. The SEO Tool also runs on your own AI key, so model usage is billed by your provider on top of the plan.
