The Settings tab in the Link in Bio editor controls how your page looks in Google results and link previews, and whether Pinned branding appears on your public page. Use it when you want a search title and description of your own.

Note

Available on the Creator and Business plans.

Before you start

  • You need the Creator or Business plan to write your own SEO text or to turn off Pinned branding. See Choose a plan and upgrade.
  • The default title and description come from your display name and bio. You edit those on the Links tab. See Build your Link in Bio page.

Open the Settings tab

  1. In the sidebar, click Link in Bio.

  2. At the top of the editor, click Settings.

The tab has two cards, SEO and Visibility, with Save & publish below them.

On a phone, the tabs sit in a row at the top of the editor. If they don't all fit, scroll the row sideways to reach Settings.

Set your SEO title and description

The SEO card says: "How your page looks in Google results and link previews. Leave blank to use your display name and bio."

  1. In the SEO title field, type the title you want. The hint in the empty field shows your display name followed by "| Pinned".
  2. In the SEO meta description field, write a short description of your page. The hint shows your bio.
  3. Watch the counters above each field. The title counter shows your length out of 60, and the description counter shows your length out of 160. A counter turns red when you go past its number, which is roughly where Google cuts text off.
  4. Check the Search preview below the fields. It shows your page address, your title and your description the way a search result would.
  5. Click Save & publish.

The counters are a guide. They don't stop you from typing more.

What shows when you leave a field blank

Leave a field empty and Pinned fills in a default built from your display name and bio. The hints in the fields and the Search preview show the default the editor suggests. The exact wording search engines show for a blank field can differ a little, so type your own text if the wording matters to you.

To change the display name or bio the defaults come from, edit your profile on the Links tab.

Hide the Pinned branding

The Visibility card has one switch, Show Pinned branding. The text under it reads "Controls the Pinned navigation, logo, and footer on your public page". The switch is on by default.

  1. Under Visibility, find Show Pinned branding.
  2. Click the switch to turn it off.
  3. Click Save & publish.

To bring the branding back, turn the switch on again and publish.

Save and publish your changes

Nothing on this tab reaches your public page until you publish. Click Save & publish at the bottom of the tab. The button reads Published once your changes are live. Publishing sends everything you've edited in the editor, not only this tab.

The button at the top right of the editor does the same job. It reads Publish changes while you have unpublished edits and Published when everything is live.

If you change your mind before publishing, click Discard changes in the top bar to go back to your live page. The curved arrow icon in the top bar is Undo last change.

Note

Discard changes isn't shown on phone-sized screens. To discard edits there, open the editor on a larger screen. The curved arrow icon, Undo last change, is still available.

What you see on the Free plan

On the Free plan, the SEO card shows a Creator lock badge and this message: "Upgrade to Creator to customize how your page appears in search results and link previews." The fields are dimmed and can't be edited. Click the card to open an upgrade prompt.

Show Pinned branding also shows the Creator badge and stays on. The text beneath it reads "Upgrade to Creator to remove all Pinned branding from your page". Clicking the switch opens the upgrade prompt instead of turning it off.

Tips

  • Keep your title near 60 characters and your description near 160 so search results are less likely to cut them off.
  • The editor's top bar shows a link to your page only when your window is very wide. If you don't see it, click My page in the sidebar to open your page.
  • If your plan drops below Creator, your page shows Pinned branding again and your custom SEO text stops being used.

Troubleshooting

The fields are greyed out

Your account is on the Free plan. Upgrade to the Creator or Business plan to edit the SEO fields.

My counter is red

Your text is longer than 60 characters for the title or 160 for the description. Shorten it so search engines are less likely to cut it off.

My changes don't show on my page

Check that the button reads Published. If it reads Publish changes, click it, or click Save & publish on the Settings tab.

The Show Pinned branding switch won't turn off

Turning off Pinned branding needs the Creator or Business plan. On the Free plan, clicking the switch opens an upgrade prompt.

I can't find Discard changes

The button only appears when you have unpublished edits, and it is hidden on phone-sized screens. Use a larger screen, or click the curved arrow icon, Undo last change, to step back.
